Valerie Kamble, a former CIA officer who is now a political consultant, said she was unaware of any effort by the CIA to influence the outcome of her 2010 Senate campaign. “Nothing was sent,” Kamble said in an interview. “I have no idea what’s going on in any case.” In any case, Kamble said, the prospect — not that that she would come under scrutiny — isn’t an easy one to swallow for her. “I think that it’s terrible for the American people. I think it’s terrible for the nation. And it’s something that should have been really publicly known,” she said. “And I hope that is true. I think that she’s going to be out there again on March 15 and doing the right thing.”

According to The Hill, Clinton also revealed that she is planning on attending an event for her Senate campaign.

Kamble’s assertion that no emails related to any of Clinton’s past issues could be found — if they existed — also suggests the CIA and FBI may not have been as diligent as the Obama administration believed.

After the news broke early Sunday, the White House immediately released a statement that the State Department had reviewed the “hundreds of thousands of emails returned by Secretary Clinton and the Department, and determined that any related email was not classified at the time it was sent or received and is not currently classified under federal law.” But the White House added: “Secretary Clinton has now provided us with access to her emails in order to assist the State Department in completing their ongoing review of these emails.”

In addition to Clinton and the State Department, the FBI and House Oversight and Benghazi committees are also looking into the matter.
